#MondayMeditation 4/10-4/16

When I go to the the gym I like to listen to my music loud. So loud, that I drown out my thoughts of wanting to quit when I know I can push myself a little farther. The other day in the gym I was doing just that, blasting my music, minding my own business. I couldn’t hear my thoughts, but, I could hear the man a few machines over yelling to himself “keep going, you owe it to yourself. Don’t quit, you owe it to yourself.” I can’t lie, I was annoyed. Like sir, why must you be so loud?! As annoyed as I was though, I was intrigued by the way he encouraged himself. He wasn’t worried about anyone else, what they were doing, or even if he was bothering them. He was focused on being his best and giving his workout his all because he owed it to himself to be all he could be.

Today we woke up by no effort of our own. Some of us will wake up to complain. Some of us will wake up seemingly just to fulfill our daily obligations, work, then go back to bed. While some of us will wake up and see it as an opportunity to run through the day overflowing with gratitude because we get to have another day to live out our purpose, reach more people, and give God the glory. So, let me ask you, which one are you?

I don’t know what yours is, but I really believe in the depths of my heart that we all have a measure of greatness. We all have people to serve, love on, share with, encourage, inspire, and be examples to. Many of us have dreams bigger than we believe are even possible to come true. But that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try. Today, this week, and every day I want to encourage you to wake up ready and excited for what the day may bring. Wake up anticipating that you will be great, do great things and bring glory to a great God. You weren’t individually hand created by God to be average. You’re supposed to be excellent. So, when you feel like shrinking, stopping, and not giving your best effort, I want you to hear my friend at the gym say, “keep going, you owe it to yourself. Don’t quit, you owe it to yourself.”

Be Great,

Yes! So well written and inspiring. I love how you take an experience and relate it in ways we can apply them to our own lives.
